ProRanger Graduate Erick Garza PR02

 

Erick Garza began the ProRanger Program in 2011.He earned his criminology degree from Texas A&M University in San Antonio. He is originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, but grew up in the hill country of San Antonio. After high school he joined the military and served six years in the United States Navy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He credits his family, friends, college professors, and colleagues to his success in life. His older sister Roxanne has had the most influence on him and continues to lead the way as a role model in his life. On his spare time he enjoys painting and fine arts. He has been told he should be a professional artist. He quotes the famous Michelangelo who once said, “I am still learning”. There is just so much more to learn and explore and he believes that utilizing his ability to help others excites him the most.

"The ProRanger program has given me the opportunity to share my professional experiences as a military veteran. It is great to inspire others and gain knowledge from those who share common interest within this unique community. As far as the eye can see, it seems that there is a lot more fun and adventure to experience in the National Park Service. The ProRanger program has given me the fortunate opportunity to watch my future unfold, and that in itself is one of the most amazing things anyone could ever ask for."

Ranger Garza did his first internship at Yellowstone National Park.

He saw so many incredible sites, worked with phenomenal people and made a meaningful difference conserving our National most treasured resources.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ranger Garza's second internship was at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. During this internship Ranger Garza had the opportunity to bring all of his skills to the job. He engaged in scuba diving, water rescue, search and rescue, visitor services and resource management. He was a very important asset to the staff at this very busy and beautiful American recreational park.

ProRanger Megan Kinkade

Ranger Kinkade did a phenomenal job at Yellowstone National Park. She gained lots of experience in Ranger duties. Her second internship was at Sitka National Historical Park in Alaska.

 

 

 

Ranger Kinkade is a permanent US Park Ranger at Mount Rushmore National Monument.
